Software Engineering Manager

Description:
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading our world class team of engineers in support of both our products and services customers. You will manage the care and feeding of the team to ensure that our team of engineers are able to perform at their best. You will also lead the technical excellence of the software team by ensuring the highest level of quality, training, and development using industry leading methods, processes, and/or tools. Finally, you will often interact with our customers to understand their business needs and to help craft proposals or solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Create, articulate, and enhance the vision of the engineering team by pumping up the team, encouraging the team to remember the technical vision, stay excited about the work they are doing, and to be part of the greatness
• Lead the engineering team by providing technical strategy, technical best practices and processes, and mentoring
• Collaborate with the customer in a consultative role when eliciting their business and technical requirements
• Growth and retention of the technical team by sourcing, hiring, and onboarding world class engineering talent
• Work with internal cross functional leaders to prioritize multiple and conflicting priorities across all software development projects while maintaining the efficiency of the team
• Lead performance coaching and career development at Abalta for new and existing engineers
• Resolve production and customers issues together with other cross functional leaders

Qualifications:

• MUST be eligible to work in the US for any employer without any restrictions
• Minimum BS degree in Computer Science or applicable engineering discipline
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on software development experiences
• Minimum of 3 years of Software Leadership experience
• Experience in delivering complete software products that are deployed commercially
• Experience in the embedded software development industry or in the automotive industry is highly desirable
• Our customer is highly technical. Candidate must be fluent in software development practices, tools, and technology
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be self-motivated. Must be able to anticipate problems, spot new business opportunities and take a proactive approach to responsibilities
• Have strong interpersonal skills to be able to work with both internal teams and customers

COVID-19 considerations:
We have embraced the hybrid work model. Some of our team goes in daily, some occasionally, and some rarely. It is expected you will be close enough to our office to commute as necessary for the role.
